Day 1 - July 5, 2013: Landing in Paris, we immediately set out to find a cafe for lunch, complete with our favorite beverage.
We fight jet-lag by taking a walk, and enjoyed looking at the gorgoyles decorating the Seine.
It wasn't until we looked closely that we realized these weren't your standard-issue gorgoyles!
The sunshine feels good; sunglasses hide the bags under our eyes.
On to Notre Dame!
We took the tour in '89, so opted to only admire from the outside this trip.
One of our favorite views of the cathedral
Imposing from the front, Notre Dame is ornate from the back.
Some scary critters!
Ah, the Eiffel Tower!
We're starting to wear down by this point...we've walked to the Place de la Concorde.
Essence of Paris!
More quintessential Paris: Champs-Élysée and the Arc de Triomphe
Resting in a park
Spending a couple of minutes at the hotel's bar before going to dinner at Le Versance (an extraordinary dinner!)
Day 2 - July 6, 2013: We get to spend time at Musée d'Orsay, looking at Impressionist works in a converted railway station.
We took the TGV (fast train) to Geneva, and walked around the city center.
Our first view of the mountain that inspired this trip: Mont Blanc!

Hanging out by Lake Geneva
Two black-headed gulls (could you have figured that out by yourself?)
This is the third time you've seen this bird; do you know what kind it is?
